INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WEEK COWESAugust 11th to 14th 2009
It is with regret that the Organising Authority of International Youth Week Cowes has cancelled this year’s event due to lack of sponsorship. The event has established itself as a top class youth event and is the only fully international youth match racing event held in the UK regularly attracting teams from Great Britain and as far away as America, Australia and New Zealand. The Island Sailing Club and the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, both based in Cowes Isle of Wight, as the Organising Authority, felt it important to try and maintain the standards set in previous years which made the event so popular and successful, but realised that without the required level of sponsorship, this could not be achieved. Both Clubs recognised the support they have received in the past from previous sponsors Skandia, Swordsman Marine and various local organisations. It is hoped that the event can continue in 2010 with sufficient sponsorship and the clubs are currently working together to achieve this. They would welcome any enquiries regarding sponsorship of this prestigious event.
